After the District Collector’s orders, now the office-going employees who are preparing for the government job exams while working in a private setup can study in this central library.

The central library of Karwar, Uttara Kannada, Karnataka has dominated the headlines recently for being open to students till midnight. This has proved to be useful for the natives, especially the students who are preparing for the competitive examinations. As per Local18 Kannada, the earlier working hours of the library were between 08:00 AM till the evening. This time, however, proved to be difficult for the office-going people who are preparing for the competitive examinations simultaneously. They couldn’t find the time to study in the library due to not being able to balance the time between their job and the preparations.

Now, an order by the District Collector Gangubai Manakar proved a huge source of respite for them. They have now been permitted to study in the library till midnight. With the orders of the District Collector, now the office-going employees who are preparing for the government job exams while working in a private setup can study in this central library. Not only the government exams but also the people aiming to clear other papers come to this library to study in massive numbers.

This initiative is the first of its kind in Karnataka where readers are allowed to bring in their books to read. As of now, only the newspaper section has been opened for the students where an estimated number of 30-50 people assemble to read regularly. Not only the people of Karwar but the people of other regions in North Karnataka and South Karnataka also gain benefits from the books stocked in this library.

According to a report published in the Deccan Herald, there are 205 public libraries in Bengaluru and considered very useful by students who visit. The libraries are maintained by the Department of Public Libraries and are called City Central Libraries. They fall under one of the five zones of the department- East, West, Central, North, and South in Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike limits. “I visit this and other closeby libraries and study whenever I have free time; I read and update myself. I want to take the Karnataka Administrative Service exam, and this library is resourceful”, Shraddha, a final-year student visiting City Central Library, West Zone, in Vijayanagar told Deccan Herald.
