This Mumbai Couple’s 18 Month Old Daughter Was Taken Away By German Govt, They’re Still Fighting For Custody

The parents of an Indian child in the custody of German Child Rights arrived in Mumbai on Thursday to meet Indian authorities to expedite the process of getting custody of their daughter from the German government. His three-year-old daughter has been taken into custody. In the custody of the German authorities for the last year and a half. At a press conference in Mumbai on Thursday, the girl’s mother said, “In September 2021, our daughter was picked up by the German Child Services. She accidentally injured her private part and we took her to the doctor.”

The doctors sent us back saying he was fine. Then we went for the follow-up check. My daughter was again declared fine, but this time the doctors called Child Services and gave them custody of my daughter. And we later learned that because of the nature of her injury, they suspected sexual abuse.” “In the interest of clarification, we also provided our DNA samples. The sexual abuse case was closed in February 2022, following DNA tests, police investigations and medical reports. And in December 2021, a specialist at the same hospital denied any suspicion of sexual abuse.

The child’s father said, “After all this, we thought that our girl would come back with us. But the German Child Services opened a case against us for termination of custody. We went to the court for her. The court ordered That we have to make a parenting capability report. We got the 150-page parenting capability test report after a year, during which the psychologist spoke to us only for 12 hours.”

“After receiving the report we got the next test date. The report suggested that the bond between the parent and the child is very strong and the child should be returned to the parent but the parent does not know that the child How to bring up. For that we should live in a family home till the girl is 3 to 6 years old. At that age girl will be able to decide whether she wants to live with her parents or in foster care,” he said.

Her father said, “They argued that we should let him eat as much as he wants, let him play, and they don’t discipline him enough. He also mentioned that the child has attachment disorder. He alleged that attachment disorder is because It was because the child wanted to do everything on his own.

They said that they could not send her to India as she did not know any Indian language, which could result in trauma. We have been telling them to let us teach them at least one Indian language. A teacher, a volunteer or even a mentor is not required. Our friends and family could easily do the same. There were many Indians in Germany who volunteered to teach him Hindi or Gujarati, but he refused. I don’t know how we are going to manage. We are already in debt of Rs 30-40 lakh.” The mother said, “We are allowed to meet the girl for an hour every month under the supervision of a social worker. He spoke positively about our attachment to the girl. We asked for more meeting but he refused saying it might tire the girl. But in September 2022, we were allowed to meet him twice a month. But the German Child Services are not even following the court order. After the intervention of the Government of India in December 2022, he started obeying the court order.”

“We are saying that she is an Indian child, she should know an Indian language and get cultural knowledge. We also sought consular access for her. Criminals also get consular access, but with our daughter, the criminal being treated even worse.” ,

“We want to bring him to India as we haven’t had a fair trial. There are cultural differences which are difficult to explain to the German authorities. We request PM Modi to help us bring him back to India. We request Foreign Minister S Also request.” Jaishankar look into this problem and help us to get our child back. If PM Modi takes matters into his hands, matters will be resolved.”
