‘This is what Virat should do quickly’: Pak legend gives solution to Kohli’s struggle against moving ball

After more than a decade, Virat Kohli is participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as just one more player. After relinquishing the captaincy of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), he started the current season with an unbeaten 44 against Punjab Kings. However, he failed to score enough runs in the last two innings. He could only score 12 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders. On Tuesday evening, he was run out after scoring just 5 runs in 6 balls.

Kohli has been struggling to stay afloat since 2019 when he last scored an international century. His misery against the moving ball is now one of the biggest discussions in cricket circles.

Former Pakistan captain and fast bowler Wasim Akram feels that the former RCB captain should bat with an open stance to negate the effect of the inswinging ball, adding that it is important for him to use the straight bat against left-arm fast bowlers. It would be better to play

“I think Kohli should bat with an open stance in the beginning, only negotiating the incoming deliveries for the first few overs. This will prevent the inswinging delivery from hitting their pads. He can play straight with this stance. I think if Virat feels he is struggling against left-handed batsmen, he should do the same soon,” Akram said on VUSport streaming YouTube channel.

“If a player like Kohli survives in the first two overs, I don’t think it will be easy to stop him.

Notably, Kohli is also the highest run-scorer in the IPL. He has played 202 matches and scored 6341 runs at an average of 37.30.
