‘This Is The Respect We Get..,’ Ex-Cricketer Lambasts R Ashwin

Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is on the verge of reaching a significant milestone of playing his 100th Test match. With 99 Test appearances already under his belt, Ashwin will achieve this feat as India faces England in the fifth match of the series in Dharamsala, starting on Thursday. The cricketing community is buzzing with excitement over Ashwin’s impending milestone, but former Indian spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan has expressed disappointment over Ashwin’s alleged behavior towards him.

“Tried calling him a few times to wish him for his 100th Test. Just cut off my call. Sent him a message, no reply. That’s the respect we former cricketers get,” the former India spinner wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Sivaramakrishnan took to social media to express his dissatisfaction, stating that Ashwin ignored his calls and did not respond to his congratulatory messages regarding the impending 100th Test match.

The fifth Test match between India and England in Dharamshala will also mark Ashwin’s 100th Test appearance. In his illustrious career spanning 99 Tests, Ashwin has amassed 507 wickets at an impressive average of 23.91, including 35 five-wicket hauls, with his best bowling figures being 7/59.

Adding to his bowling prowess, Ashwin has also contributed significantly with the bat, accumulating 3,309 runs in 140 innings at an average of 26.14. He boasts five centuries and 14 half-centuries, establishing himself as one of the premier all-rounders of the modern era.
