This is how WhatsApp may be planning to change the way you share photos and videos – Times of India

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a redesign that may change the way you share photos or videos on the platform. According to a report by WABetaInfo, the Facebook-owned platform has started to roll out a new beta update for Android users through the Google Play Beta Program. Although the update does not bring any new feature, it hints that the redesigned media picker is under development.
As per the screenshots shared by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will show two new tabs: Recents and Gallery. The aim apparently is to make it easier for users to select the media that they want to share on their status or with contacts. The Recent tab will show all the photos, videos, and GIFs that have been recently added to the phone’s gallery. While the Gallery tab will show all the other media files stored in your smartphone.
When and how you will be able to access the new settings
The report further reveals that the redesigned media section won’t be available when you tap on the ‘+’ icon in a chat, but you will be able to spot the new section when you access the phone’s gallery by pressing the camera icon either in a chat or in the Status section. As the feature is still under development, it is not yet known when it will be available.
Earlier this week, WhatsApp also added a UPI QR (quick response) code scanner feature for Indian users. With the new feature, you can directly pay to a store, merchant, or any other user by just scanning the QR code. The scanner allows you to send payments to users who are not in your contact list without typing-in the UPI ID. The QR code scanner is already available for all WhatsApp users on Android and iOS smartphones. You have to keep in mind that the feature will only work for you if you have linked your UPI ID with WhatsApp Payments service.
