This bride is winning the internet over with her simple Dhakai wedding saree – Times of India

Indian brides are revamping wedding fashion and we are loving it in every way. From swatches to regular lehengas, they look great on sarees. And if you love saree more than lehenga, then you must check out this beautiful bride who gave up the lehenga for a simple saree but her traditional choice made people fall in love with her!

We at designer duo Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla came across graphic design artist, Dipannita Dutt’s wedding photos and we can’t get over the beauty of the bright bridal wedding saree.

Dipannita Dutt looked like an absolute sight on her wedding day as she wore a heritage Dhakai saree. The timeless traditional weave by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla is said to be skillfully embroidered with sequins and handmade gold lace for a mesmerizing effect. Zardosi and stone sleeveless blouse added a contemporary twist to the traditional look of the bride. Dipannita accessorised the outfit with her mother’s traditional Bengali jewelery and we loved every original look of her.

So what is Dhakai? It is a type of fabric made from cotton. The name comes from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, where this type of saree is usually made.

The sari, known as Jamdani in the olden times, is making a comeback among the sari connoisseurs.

If you love simplicity, pick up a cotton fabric with a hint of gold like Deepanita and shine on the biggest day of your life.
