‘Third wave won’t come to India if people follow COVID guidelines’: Dr Navneet Vig, President AIIMS

New Delhi: ABP News organized the India Vs Corona E-Conclave and invited doctors and medical professionals to understand the effects of the second Covid wave and what India will face if the third wave hits the country.

Dr Navneet Vig, Chairman, AIIMS Task Force joined the conversation on India vs Corona 3.0 E-Conclave and discussed how to prevent third wave in the country. Dr Vig said that this is possible only when the Kovid positivity rate remains below 1 percent. Dr. Vig also said that if more than 50 percent of the beds are available, then the states should think about unlocking. He further said that this lockdown and unlock process will continue for 2-3 years.

Dr Vig focused on how important it is to understand that it is the people who can prepare in advance and stop the wave of COVID. He said people should ensure that they stay in a place where others are vaccinated and urge them if their neighbors or friends are not taking the jab top. He also said that though the fear of Covid is necessary but myths should be busted and people should follow only authentic information and not anything that exists on social media.

Dr Anjan Trikha, an expert in pain medicine and critical care also joined the panel and said that it is very important to follow the proper treatment of COVID to combat the third COVID wave. He said that India is well equipped with medical equipment to fight the third wave but it will not happen without the support of the people. He also said that influencers, celebrities, actors, actresses and sportspersons should set an example and wear masks in public places so that people follow the same. He should also guide the people and make them understand the importance of covid job.

Dr Uma Thakur, Professor and Head, Department of Rheumatology said that mothers should be careful if they are affected by COVID and guide the children to follow the same. People should get vaccinated in large numbers only then we will be able to control the spread of covid. Dr Thakur also said that post-Covid treatment is as important as taking care of yourself when you are battling with COVID. He advised that if you are facing any problem even after recovering from covid then do not hesitate or fear but visit your doctor who can help you.
