The third Covid wave led by the Omicron version – first detected in South Africa – is here in the country and cases are flooding every state. Medical experts have been saying that Omicron infection is mild and most cases are asymptomatic, but yes it is spreading much faster than any previous version.
Experts suggest that one should not let the guard down and strictly follow all the COVID protocols, which include washing hands, wearing masks, avoiding crowded places, maintaining social distancing among others. Although the infections are mild, there is concern that a large number of doctors are falling prey to the highly contagious disease. So far, over 1,000 doctors and staff, including nurses, medical students, have tested positive for coronavirus in the states. Let’s take a look at the state wise figures where more doctors are getting infected.
Maharashtra
Maharashtra currently tops the rate of doctors testing positive for coronavirus. The state currently has 290 resident doctors who have tested positive in the last three days.
Delhi
120 doctors, including health workers, have tested positive in the national capital. 50 doctors have been found in Delhi AIIMS while 26 are also from Safdarganj Hospital.
38 doctors, 45 health care workers in Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital are infected with Kovid. While 20 doctors are from Hindu Rao Hospital and 7 from Loknayak Hospital.
Punjab
In Chandigarh, the report of 196 doctors including staff in PGI has come positive in two days.
Jharkhand
Around 180 doctors, health workers have tested positive for coronavirus in Jharkhand’s Ranchi so far.
A state in Eastern India
So far 200 doctors and students have tested positive for coronavirus NMCH in Bihar’s Patna.
West Bengal
In West Bengal, cases of doctors, nurses getting infected with Kovid are being reported in Kolkata. As per reports, over 70 doctors and nurses have tested positive.
Uttar Pradesh
25 medical staff are infected in Medanta in Lucknow. More infections have also been reported from other districts.
