David Warner also praised Mukesh Kumar for defending 13 runs under pressure in the last over.

Delhi Capitals (DC) captain David Warner heaped praise on the spin duo of Akshar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav for their superb bowling against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Monday. Axar and Kuldeep were economical in the middle overs to put pressure on the SRH batsmen while defending the 145-run target. Axar picked up two crucial wickets from Mayank Agarwal and Aiden Markram, while the chinaman dismissed Abhishek Sharma.

This was the first time since the inception of the tournament that Delhi Capitals were able to defend a target below 150. With the win over SRH, Warner & Co. continued their rejuvenation with back-to-back wins after starting the season with 5 consecutive losses.

IPL 2023 SRH vs DC Match Highlights

It was like a homecoming for Warner as he played for SRH before joining the Capitals in IPL 2022. The southpaw also got them the title win in the 2016 season.

“Love it here, it’s an amazing crowd, they always come here and support. Thanks for all the support,” Warner said at the post-match presentation.

Warner praised Mukesh Kumar for delivering under pressure in the final over as he defended 13 runs to help the Capitals register their second win of the season. The southpaw also called Kuldeep and Axar the rocks of the DC bowling line-up.

“The game challenges us, it is great for us to get two points. Mukesh’s performance under pressure was excellent. Well done to him and the two spinners, they have been our rock. Both of them are experienced bowlers, they will never let you down.”

Meanwhile, it was another stellar performance from Ishant Sharma as he took one wicket for 18 runs in his three overs. He put pressure on the SRH batsmen in the powerplay.

Warner also spoke highly of Ishant and said that he has worked really hard to make a comeback in the IPL.

“From day one, he (Ishant) kept telling me if he was ready. Unfortunately he was sick in the first few games but credit goes to him. He has worked very hard to make a comeback in IPL. To get an opportunity and bowl fast like that, it’s extraordinary,” he said.

Talking about back-to-back wins, Warner would like to make it three in a row with a win in the next match.

“We talked about it at the end of 0 of 5 that teams have won before there. Hopefully we can make it three in a row. We have to play consecutive matches against Sunrisers, so we have to start again.
