The second and final stage of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will start from 19 September in the United Arab Emirates. IPL 2021 was suspended midway in May after some players and staff members contracted COVID-19. Till it was postponed, only 29 matches could be played. Now the second leg will start on September 19 from the 30th match between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. There are many overseas players, who are expected to make their IPL debuts this season.

Glen Phillips

The young New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman has been picked up by Rajasthan Royals as a replacement for England’s Jos Buttler, who has made himself unavailable for the UAE leg. The hard hitter appeared in 144 T20 matches and scored 3998 runs, including four centuries and 25 half-centuries.

The Singapore-born cricketer made headlines after he was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) last month. The 25-year-old recently played in the Caribbean Premier League where he scored 282 runs in 11 T20 innings. Interestingly, out of David’s 282 runs, 190 came from boundaries and hit 19 sixes in the tournament.

sherfen rutherford

The West Indies cricketer has been bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad in place of Jonny Bairstow. He has played 72 T20 matches and scored 1163 runs at a strike rate of over 135. Rutherford is also useful with the ball and has taken eight wickets. The 23-year-old medium pacer has taken 33 wickets in 17 first-class matches.

This talent of South Africa has been making his country proud. The 26-year-old has already represented his country in all three formats and even has five Test centuries to his name. Markram took part in 59 T20Is and scored 1424 runs and also took 12 wickets. Punjab Kings has included him in the team in place of David Malan.

Ben Dwarshuis

Although Ben Dwarshuis has already represented Delhi Capitals in the first leg of IPL 2021, his real test will be when the tournament resumes in the UAE. The 27-year-old hails from Australia but is yet to make his international debut.
