JNU Controversy: Several walls of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus were defaced with anti-Brahmin slogans on Thursday. The students claimed that the walls of the School of International Studies-II building were vandalized with slogans against the Brahmin and Bania communities. Hours after the incident, the administration issued a statement saying that such incidents will not be tolerated as JNU belongs to all.

Taking cognizance of the matter, Vice-Chancellor Santashree D Pandit has asked the Dean and the School of International Studies and Grievances Committee to investigate and submit a report at the earliest. Some of the slogans on the wall are “Quit the Brahmin campus”, “There will be blood”, “Brahmin Quit India” and “Brahmin-baniya, we are coming for you! We will take revenge.”

“The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shantisree D Pandit, SIS, JNU has taken a serious note of the incident of defacement of walls and faculty rooms by some unknown elements in JNU. The administration condemns these exclusionary tendencies in the campus,” the statement said.

“The Dean, School of International Studies & Complaints Committee has been asked to conduct an inquiry at the earliest and submit a report to the VC. JNU stands for inclusion & equality. VC has zero tolerance for any kind of violence on campus repeats.” ,
