‘There are two paths’: Bharat Arun explains how India bowlers can put pressure on South African batsmen

Bharat Arun believes being precise will give India bowlers a world of good during the tour of South Africa, which begins on December 26 with the first Test of the three-match series. India have never won a Test series on South African soil but based on their recent form, the world’s top-ranked team is being backed to end their wait this time around.

And to achieve that, Virat Kohli will need to have his bowlers firing on all cylinders, especially the pacers who have repeatedly played a key role in the Indian team’s recent successes in England and Australia.

Arun, whose tenure as India’s bowling coach ended with the 2021 T20 World Cup, advised bowlers not to chase wickets but be ‘too mean’ and not give anything to the batsmen.

“I would still go for their (Indian bowlers) to be very precise. I always tell the bowlers to work for excellence. It’s not chasing wickets, it’s not going after anything. It’s just the idea of being too mean – to give nothing to the batsmen,” said Arun Palt De – Breaking News,

He further explained that there are two ways to build pressure: first by taking wickets and second by stopping runs.

“There are two ways to put pressure on the team. One is to get wickets and the other way is to reduce the flow of runs. If you are not able to take wickets, then you have to reduce the runs so that the opponents do not run away from you. They are where they are,” he said.

He added, “And, the minute you get a few wickets, you are at the top of the game. This is going to be the mantra and I think they should follow it.”
