External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday took a dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks in the United States.

Jaishankar said Rahul Gandhi does not engage in politics when he travels abroad and will debate “vigorously” when he returns to India.

Without naming Rahul Gandhi, Jaishankar said, “I may strongly disagree with someone but how do I counter it… I would like to go back home and do this.”

While he was in Cape Town for the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the External Affairs Minister was engaged in an interaction with members of the Indian community.

After Jaishankar’s speech, the Indian audience was given an opportunity to ask questions.

Jaishankar was asked by a member of the Indian community what he would like to say about the remarks made by “someone” in the United States, without naming Rahul Gandhi.

The minister replied, “Look, I say I can only speak my mind. I try not to do politics abroad when I go abroad. For this I do my best to argue and debate very vigorously at home.” Kinda ready.”

Additionally, he states that democratic culture emphasizes collective responsibility, such as working for the “national interest” and “collective image”.

“Sometimes there are bigger things than politics and when you step outside the country, I think it is important to remember that,” Jaishankar said in an apparent reference to the Congress leader.

“What is happening to Muslims in India today happened to Dalits in the 1980s,” Rahul Gandhi said on Wednesday, referring to the BJP-led government at the Centre.

Rahul Gandhi, during his speech at the “Mohabbat Ki Dukan” event in San Francisco, claimed that the BJP-led government’s actions have affected minorities, Dalits and tribals and they need to “fight with affection”.

“It’s being felt most directly by Muslims because it’s done to them most directly. But really, it’s done to all communities. The way you (Muslims) feel attacked I can guarantee Sikhs, Christians, Dalits and Dalits.” The tribals are also feeling the same. You cannot kill hate with hate, but only with love and affection.”

Rahul also discussed “economic inequality” at an event in San Francisco, saying “five people have lakhs of crores” despite some struggling to make ends meet.
