Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that according to the reports of the states and union territories, no patient died in the country due to lack of oxygen.

There was a ruckus across the country after the government’s statement. The opposition even demanded to put the government in the dock. It is also necessary to create a ruckus, because during the second wave of Corona, there was an outcry in the whole country due to lack of oxygen. Every day there were reports of shortage of oxygen in hospitals.

There was also a shortage of oxygen in such hospitals, where hundreds of corona patients were admitted. The issue of lack of oxygen in Delhi reached the High Court. During the hearing itself, the court was also informed about the death due to lack of oxygen in a hospital. 1. Delhi: 12 patients die due to lack of oxygen at Batra Hospital
Amidst the second wave of Corona, a hearing was held in the Delhi High Court on the shortage of oxygen in Delhi on May 1. Meanwhile, 12 corona patients lost their lives due to lack of oxygen at Batra Hospital in the capital. During the hearing, it was told from the hospital that there was no oxygen supply for more than an hour, due to which 8 corona patients died. The doctor is also among the dead. There are 307 patients admitted in the hospital. Of these, 230 are on oxygen support. After some time, Dr. SCL Gupta, MD of Batra Hospital informed a TV channel about the death of 12 people.

2. Delhi: 20 die in Golden Hospital
On 24 April, 20 people lost their lives in Jaipur Golden Hospital due to oxygen crisis. This information was given by Dr. DK Baluja of the hospital. He had told that the oxygen tank which has been provided by the government now. This too will last only for the next two to two and a half hours. We need more oxygen.
A day before this, 25 patients died due to lack of oxygen in Ganga Ram Hospital. However, later the hospital administration clarified that the condition of these patients was very serious. They have not died due to lack of oxygen.

3. Madhya Pradesh: 12 died in Shahdol, 10 in Bhopal, 5 in Jabalpur and 3 in Gwalior
Madhya Pradesh suffered the most due to lack of oxygen amid the deteriorating condition of Corona. Here on different days 12 people died in Shahdol, 10 in Bhopal, 5 in Jabalpur and 3 in Gwalior due to lack of oxygen. However, later the government-administration denied that the cause of death was due to lack of oxygen.

  • First of all let’s talk about Shahdol. On April 18, 12 Kovid patients died due to low pressure of oxygen supply in the medical college here. All were admitted in ICU. The incident happened at 12 pm. As the oxygen depleted, the patient began to suffer. After this there was a stir in the hospital. Many patients had to press the oxygen mask by hand, the patients felt that perhaps by pressing properly, oxygen would come. In the case, Dr. Milind Shiralkar, Dean of Medical College first confirmed 6 deaths. Shortly after this, Additional Collector Arpit Verma informed about 12 deaths.
  • The next day i.e. on 19th April, 10 corona patients died in Bhopal’s People’s Medical College between 5 and 7 am due to lack of oxygen. All of them were admitted in the Kovid ward of D block. In the early morning, the pressure of oxygen supply suddenly decreased and the patients admitted in ICU started getting nervous. Seeing this, the nursing staff of the ward started screaming. There was chaos. When some nurses informed the relatives of the patients they knew, they came running to the channel gate of Kovid D-Block. It was locked here. They shouted that the oxygen ran out, let us in. However, the hospital management denied any such incident.
  • Earlier on April 15, due to a failure in the liquid plant in Jabalpur, 5 patients died on Thursday morning due to the shutdown of oxygen supply. All were on ventilators. While the condition of 4 is critical. An 82-year-old woman on ventilator died in agony due to lack of oxygen at Medicity Hospital here. At the same time, 4 have died in Sukh-Sagar Medical College.
  • At the same time, on April 27, the biggest hospital in Gwalior, Kamala Raja Hospital, ran out of oxygen on Tuesday. It was told that in a short time 3 patients died in agony. However, Congress MLA Satish Sikarwar had claimed at least 10 deaths. A few days before this, three patients had died due to lack of oxygen here.

4. Andhra Pradesh: TDP claim – 30 such deaths in the state
At least 30 people died in Andhra Pradesh due to lack of oxygen. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) spokesperson K. Pattabiram claimed this. He claimed that there were over 30 deaths in a single incident at Tirupati’s Ruia Hospital. In Vizianagaram, Kurnool and many areas, corona infected died due to lack of oxygen. The biggest reason for this is the failure of the central government to supply oxygen to the hospitals on time.

5. Karnataka: 24 dead due to lack of oxygen in Chamarajanagar
In Karnataka’s Chamarajanagar district hospital, 24 patients have died within 24 hours. These include 23 corona infected and patients suffering from another disease. It was told that the deaths were due to lack of oxygen and other reasons, but the district administration denied the lack of oxygen.

Chamarajanagar deputy commissioner MR Ravi told The Hindu that all the patients who died were on ventilators. These patients were already battling serious ailments. In such a situation, these deaths did not necessarily occur due to lack of oxygen. However, the truth is that now it is becoming difficult to raise oxygen even in Mysore.

Politics also started on the matter

  • Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal alleged that the government was misleading the country through Parliament. Everyone has seen how people have lost their lives due to lack of oxygen in different parts of the country including Delhi.
  • Delhi Health Minister Dr. Satyendar Jain said that during the second wave of Corona, the media was showing every day that the hospitals were in turmoil due to lack of oxygen, but the Center was saying something else. We had formed a committee to inquire into the deaths due to lack of oxygen, but the LG did not approve it. The central government is now doing the work of sprinkling salt on the burn by making such a statement.
  • Madhya Pradesh Health Minister Dr. Prabhuram Choudhary claimed that the central government is presenting the correct figures. The figures given by the Center have been given on the basis of states. No one died in MP due to lack of oxygen.
  • Bihar Government Health Minister Mangal Pandey claims that not a single death occurred due to lack of oxygen in Bihar. During the second wave of corona, the demand for oxygen had increased up to 14 times, but there were no deaths due to lack of oxygen in any government or private hospital.
  • On Wednesday, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra responded to the allegations of the opposition. He said that in the reply given by the government in the house, three things have been made clear that health is a state subject. The Center has collected only the data sent by the states and according to the data, no state has reported death due to lack of oxygen.
