Actually, Adityanath was supposed to attend the meeting from Lucknow like other BJP chief ministers, but he was taking everyone by surprise in the meeting held in Delhi on Sunday morning.

The move to select him to make a political proposal also points to the confidence shown in him by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the importance of Adityanath to the party’s political fortunes.

Elections are to be held in Uttar Pradesh within four months under Adityanath’s leadership. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in his recent visit to Lucknow, supported him as the next CM, saying that if people want Modi to return as the Prime Minister in 2024, they should have Adityanath as the CM in 2022. Must vote.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in a press conference, fully justified the decision of electing the UP CM to make a political proposal, describing Adityanath as a senior leader of the party.

“Why shouldn’t we elect him? He is running the government in the largest state. His work during the Covid pandemic is known to everyone – be it for migrant laborers or creating jobs in villages. He is a senior in Parliament. Have been MPs. Why should we not invite him to make a political proposal? We will definitely do,” Sitharaman said.

The crucial leadership meeting began in New Delhi on Sunday, in which senior leaders LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi attended virtually. While Bharatiya Janata Party President JP Nadda delivered the inaugural address, PM Modi will deliver the concluding address.

In the meeting, the assembly elections to be held in five states including Uttar Pradesh will be discussed. The BJP’s national executive meeting, which normally takes place once in three months as per the party’s constitution, is being held in hybrid mode for nearly two years in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
