Islamabad: Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Imran Khan said on Tuesday that the government wants to arrest him to break the momentum of the ongoing agitation against it.

Speaking at the lawyers’ conference in Islamabad, Mr Khan said the government found his arrest the only way to stop the ongoing agitation.

“It is the responsibility of lawyers to take a stand for the rule of law,” he said, who became the prime minister and chief minister of Punjab, who is facing corruption charges of Rs 16 billion.

Mr Khan said that if the Arab world can take a stand on blasphemous remarks against India, why can’t Pakistan?

“The Sharif family should end their trade ties with India.

The former prime minister also accused the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) that it was trying to save Hamza Shahbaz, which is why it had decided to fill the reserved seats after the by-election.

“Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) wants to win by-elections through rigging as it cannot win them transparently. I will say that wherever he goes, people will call him by two names- traitors and thieves,” he said.

The PTI chief said that his party’s government has kept the country on the right track and the country’s GDP is growing at more than five per cent annually.

“WAPDA used to issue bonds, but ever since retired Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain was forced to resign, the authority’s rating has turned negative, due to which he cannot take loans to build the dam,” he said. Told. ,

In another development, PTI will hold elections within the party on Wednesday (today).

According to the party’s Chief Election Commissioner Jamal Ansari, the National Council will elect the party’s president and members of federal and provincial governing bodies.

Meanwhile, PTI’s focal person on economic matters Hammad Azhar accused the present government of having neither a game plan nor a solution to fix the ailing economy.

Speaking at a press conference, he said that instead of making a comprehensive plan to diagnose the problem and take remedial measures, the current setup had only one solution and that was to increase the prices.

He feared that the country was rapidly heading towards bankruptcy.

“Every day one hears bad news about the economy,” Azhar said. He said that the country can be brought out of the current crisis only by conducting free and fair elections.

He said that the seriousness of the situation can be gauged from the fact that in just one and a half months, the electricity rate has been increased by Rs 7.5, in gas by 45 per cent and in petrol by Rs 60 per liter.

Meanwhile, PTI Chairman’s Chief of Staff Dr Shahbaz Gill said Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had claimed that there would be zero load shedding from May 1, but the country is still in the grip of unprecedented power cuts.

Talking to media persons, Mr Gill said that when the prices of petrol and diesel were rising across the world, Imran Khan had brought them down to provide relief to the people.

He said the PTI government had persuaded the International Monetary Fund (IMF) through talks and did not bow down to a financial institution like the ‘imported’ government.

Mr. Gill said that his government has eliminated all unnecessary expenditure whereas the current Prime Minister is spending lakhs on just one swimming pool. He also targeted Maryam Nawaz and asked her to stop making fake audio through deep-fake software.

“If there is any evidence, show it; The public is well aware of the reality of your fake audios and videos.”
