Meta’s Messenger app is rolling out a new set of shortcuts for Android and iOS users. The new shortcuts are part of a new app update that is slowly rolling out to people around the world. The platform has revealed some new shortcuts like Group Tag Reply, Silent Reply and GIF Reply feature.
Apart from these, the Meta-owned messaging platform will be adding more shortcuts later this year.

Messenger app shortcuts for Android and iOS
The new shortcuts introduced on Messenger are varied and help users tag everyone in the group before replying. So, let’s say you want to talk about a party with the whole group, just use the shortcut ‘@everyone’ on Messenger to get everyone’s attention about your plans.
Meta says you can reach everyone in the group, and make sure no one misses out on a notification. This feature has been available on Slack for quite some time, and Messenger users are finally getting it.
The second shortcut is for better privacy for users with the new silent option.
If you suddenly have a question and want to ask that person late at night, just send a message with the ‘/silent’ shortcut so that person can read the chat at their convenience.
More shortcuts to Messenger
There are some other shortcuts being added, and some ‘/pay’ shortcuts for people in the US right now. Meta says just use the shortcut and the payment feature is enabled on the Messenger screen, so you can quickly pay for that coffee or pizza your friend paid for at a restaurant earlier in the day.

Meta is also bringing ‘/gif’, ‘/shrug’ and ‘/tableflip’ shortcuts to iOS users soon.
There’s no word on when Android folks will get these handy Messenger shortcuts.
