The makers of Thel starring actor-choreographer Prabhu Deva have postponed the release of the Tamil film due to unavailability of cinema halls. The film was earlier scheduled to premiere on December 10. Theil, directed by Harikumar, will feature Prabhu Deva as a protagonist, while Sanyuktha Hegde will play the lead.
As per reports, the Prabhu Deva-starrer was struggling to get enough theaters and cinema halls for its release as several films are lined up for release.
Recently a Prabhu Deva film, which released on OTT, flopped, with many saying that theater owners did not show any interest in releasing the film on the big screen. Most of the theaters did not come forward to show Prabhu Deva’s film. The film has been postponed and a new date will be announced soon.
The film is produced by Studio Green, one of the leading Tamil film production companies. Suriya and Karthi are the producers of this film. Studio Green is also producing the upcoming film Vikram starring Ranjith.
The unavailability of cinemas is being considered a major setback for Prabhu Deva. However, the makers of the film cited “unforeseen circumstances” as the reason for the postponement and said to be back soon with maximum screens.
