‘The Kashmir Files’ to release on due date after winning case in Bombay High Court

new Delhi: Director Vivek Agnihotri’s film ‘The Kashmir Files’ will now release on its scheduled date of March 11, after the Bombay High Court dismissed a plea to stay the release of the much-awaited film.

Vivek Agnihotri expressed relief and happiness over the court’s decision through a tweet which read, “Thank you all for your prayers, love and support. Biggest tragedy to release this very short film peacefully now. Bless you about.”

Based on the true stories of the victims of the Kashmir genocide, the film stars Pallavi Joshi, Prakash Belavadi, Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar, Bhasha Sumbali, Chinmay Mandlekar, Puneet Issar, Mrinal Kulkarni, Atul Srivastava and Prithviraj Sarnaik.

Talking about the film, director Vivek Agnihotri said that it was no easy task to sketch the film for Celluloid, “Bringing the story of the Kashmir genocide on the big screen is no easy feat and has to be handled with great sensitivity. The film promises to be an eye-opener and with a talented ensemble cast, the audience can relive this event in Indian history through this raw and real story.”

Recently, director Vivek Agnihotri expressed his disappointment over comedian Kapil Sharma not being invited to ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ to promote ‘The Kashmir Files’.

After a fan expressed his desire to see the cast of the much-awaited film on the chat show, Vivek Agnihotri tweeted, “I don’t get to decide who should be invited Display. It is his and his producers’ choice as to who he wants to invite. As far as Bollywood is concerned, I will say what Mr. Bachchan once said about the Gandhi family: Woh Raja Hain Hum Rank…”
