Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Monday announced that the state government will make screening of Bollywood film ‘The Kashmir Files’ directed by Vivek Agnihotri tax-free. In a tweet, Deb said: ‘Kashmir files created by Vivek Agnihotri depicts the heartbreaking struggle and trauma of Kashmiri Hindus. To support his film and encourage the people of the state to watch it, the Tripura government has decided to make it tax free in the state.”

Earlier on Monday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that his state government will not impose any entertainment tax on The Kashmir Files.

Several other BJP-led states including Gujarat, Tripura, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana have adopted similar measures to make the film tax-free.

Goa’s caretaker Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed everyone on Twitter that the film will continue to be screened in the state with maximum possible shows. He tweeted, “The painful story of pain, struggle and suffering of Kashmiri Hindus needs to be understood by everyone so that we ensure that such history is not repeated. I have spoken to INOX Management and showed the film with maximum possible Will continue to go. Shows.”
