Apple introduced new MacBook Pro models with the latest M1 processor at an event last month. New MacBook Pros Got good reviews and are considered a really powerful machine – arguably the fastest you can buy. A report by Cultofmac suggests that some tech companies are planning to buy these machines for their engineers and other employees.
Twitter developer John Zumsky recently tweeted that all of Twitter’s iOS and Android engineers are getting the latest M1 Max-powered MacBook Pro. “I’m excited to roll out the fully loaded M1 Max MBP to all of Twitter’s iOS and Android engineers! We’re seeing improvements in both the top-of-the-line performance and thermal throttling that currently plague our Intel builds.” impresses,” he tweeted.
Zumsky said it’s not an easy decision as it may seem like buying new laptops for employees. “Getting to this point was a huge team effort from the IT, architecture and tooling teams to validate all the key parts of the business working correctly at ARM and Monterey,” he said.
Twitter isn’t the only company making the switch to the new MacBook Pros. Reddit believes that buying new Apple laptops in bulk means long-term savings. “We recently discovered that the new 2021 M1 MacBook has halved our Android build time,” said Reddit engineer Jameson Williams. He further explained that if the company buys $32,000 worth of laptops for a team of nine people they save more than $100,000 in productivity the following year. As CultofMac reports, Williams said, “the engineering hours are a lot more expensive than a laptop.”
e-commerce platform Shopify has also announced that it is getting a new MacBook Pro for its employees. Shopify CEO Toby Lutke revealed this in a tweet. “It was a really fun thing to announce. We’ve placed a large order for Apple Silicone. We’re the toolmakers here at Shopify. We celebrate and appreciate other people who make great tools. Motivate yourself to do better,” he said in a tweet.
The report also says that Uber is also stocking up on new MacBook Pro units for its employees.
