“The Act In Itself…”: No Bail For Man Who Peed On Woman On Flight

'The act in itself...': No bail to man who urinated on woman on flight

Shankar Mishra was arrested from Bengaluru last week, six weeks after his heinous act.

New Delhi:

Shankar Mishra, who urinated on an elderly woman in an Air India flight, has been denied bail by a Delhi court. Metropolitan Magistrate Komal Garg rejected Mishra’s bail application saying it was not appropriate to release him on bail at this stage.

The court said in its decision, ‘The alleged act in itself is enough to violate the dignity of any woman.’

A magistrate’s court on Saturday remanded Mishra to 14-day judicial custody, denying him custody to the police.

Shankar Mishra allegedly urinated on a 70-year-old woman on a New York-Delhi flight last year. He was arrested from Bengaluru last week, six weeks after his heinous act.

Air India has come under heavy criticism for not taking prompt action. Mishra left without taking any action when the flight landed in Delhi. The airlines filed a police complaint on 4 January, claiming that it did not approach the police as it felt that both the parties had “settled the matter”.
