Udupi: A 78-year-old Christian businessman who spent his years working in Mumbai and credits his success Siddhivinayak:, has built a temple for the deity in his hometown Shirva, 14km Udupi.

After working odd jobs for a few years, he set up a factory manufacturing blocks and moulds. He lived in Mumbai for about 55 years and Ganesh became a devotee. He remains a Christian, but also worships Lord Siddhivinayak, who is most revered in Mumbai. On his return to his hometown about a decade ago, he decided to build the temple.
Gabriel At an estimated cost of Rs 2 crore, next to his house, the temple was constructed at around 20 st. A 36-inch Ganesh idol has been installed. Also a house has been built for the priest of the temple.
