Thane: Thane has arrested two people Railway Protection Force for allegedly using multiple identities to source and sell e-tickets without authorization IRCTC websiteOfficials gave this information on Sunday.
According to the police, they had received information about two persons, identified as Abdul Ji Khan (50) resident of Wagle Estate and Abdul Ansari (33), resident of Hazoori, illegally involved in buying railway tickets for passengers. They laid a trap and managed to arrest both of them in separate cases.
The police got three live tickets collectively worth around Rs 10,000 from his person. After preliminary interrogation, the duo admitted to have been involved in the issuance of around 33 e-tickets, which collectively cost Rs 30,552 in the recent past. Police also recovered two mobile phones from them.
“Both were not authorized but still bought and sold e-tickets using different IRCTC personal user IDs and used online payment mode. They used 20 different identity and login IDs to buy tickets and later I charged extra charges from customers who wanted to travel. During peak summer season. The accused have been arrested but they have no past record. However, we are probing the matter further,” said an official. said.
The RPF had busted a similar racket last week in which two agents of Rabodi used to prepare tickets using the same mode and then sell them to customers at higher rates.
