Thane: Powai businessman found dead in Yeoor jungle | Thane News – Times of India

THANE: A 62-year-old businessman from Powai who had gone trekking alone inside the dense Yeoor jungle was found dead at a desolate spot nearly eight hours later following an intense search operation by the local authorities, the police said.
“The victim, S Deshpande, was a regular to the Yeoor jungles and used to drive down to the city frequently and go trekking with his friends.
However, on Sunday he went alone and after he didn’t return for long. His panicked family alerted us and the municipal rescue teams,” informed Sulabha Patil, senior inspector at the Chitalsar Manpada police station.
Avinash Sawant, chief of the Thane regional disaster management cell informed that his team along with the fire brigade, police and forest officials started the search operation by afternoon and found the man lying lifeless at the farthest end of the jungle.
“The access to the spot where he was found is very treacherous and desolate. It took us nearly three hours to bring him down to the plains and hastened him to the hospital,” he said.
The police hastened the man to the Civil hospital and registered an accidental death case. “Although, there is no evidence of any foul play, we will wait for the post mortem to check the cause of death,” said an official.
