THANE: As many as 1,962 objections and suggestions were heard, which were filed by elected members and citizens, on draft ward delimitation for the upcoming Thane Municipal Corporation elections,
The hearing was conducted at the Ghanekar auditorium. The SEC had sought objections as well as suggestions after publishing draft delimitation of awards.
An official said that most objections were related to the boundaries of the wards and the elected members demanded change in ward structures. The citizens also tried to explain how the demarcation has gone wrong or wayward that could affect the citizens and the development of the particular ward.
Most objections were raised from the wards — Kalwa, Diva, Mumbra, Kopari, Ghodbunder, Shastrinnagar, Lokmanya Nagar in Thane.
Some of the citizens tried to explain how the toilets were moved in one ward and the citizens in another ward. The other objections were like a few buildings of one society were in one ward and other buildings in other wards. The citizens as well as corporators tried to explain that such demarcation would lead to nothing but tiff later on.
