A shocking incident has come to light from Auckland, New Zealand. An Islamic State (IS)-influenced attacker barged into a mall here, stabbing six people and seriously injuring them. It has been told that this person was already on the police’s list of suspects and it was being continuously monitored. However, on Friday, this person entered the supermarket and carried out the incident. Police reached the spot about 60 seconds after the attack and shot the attacker.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern held a press conference after the incident and told that the person who was killed by the police was a Sri Lankan citizen. He came to New Zealand in 2011 and was being monitored since 2016. Terming the incident as a terrorist attack, he said that this attack was done by one person and not by any religion. The attacker was influenced by the ideology of IS, which has no supporters in New Zealand.

Those injured in this incident were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital, where the condition of three people is said to be critical. A video from the supermarket is also going viral on social media, in which the attacker can be seen running. During this, some people can be seen running here and there in fear and shouting. It is clear in the video that the police reach the spot shortly after and first ask the attacker to surrender. However, later the policemen open fire on him.
