South Africa on Wednesday announced its men’s squad for the upcoming ODI series against England, starting January 27.
Temba Bavuma will lead the 16-man squad for the three-match ODI series. This ODI is a part of ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League 2020-23, containing qualification points for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.
Sisanda Magala and Marco Jansen return to the ODI setup, where the duo will boost the pace battery of Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje and Wayne Parnell.

South Africa will be looking to shake off their poor run of form in the last few months which saw them fail to make an appearance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup before going down 0-3 in the Test series Down Under.
Newly appointed red-ball coach Shukri Konrad will oversee the series for the Proteas. He will work in consultation with new white-ball coach Rob Walter, whose tenure will come into effect from February 1, 2023.
“With a mix of youth and experience, the selection panel is particularly enthused by the depth of this squad. We are confident that this group of players will take us one step closer to qualifying for the ICC Men’s World Cup India Later this year,” said Victor Mpitsang, convenor of selectors.
“We are also pleased to see Sisanda’s inclusion and commitment to meeting the fitness standards required for national selection.
The three-match series against England will start our international home season over the next months, and we want to wish Temba and Shukri well in what is sure to be an exciting series against quality opponents.”
