People should never pick up calls made from unknown numbers. I request every citizen to answer calls only from numbers (telephone/mobile) that they recognise. He was replying to a question about spam calls and cyber frauds.

Vaishnav said his ministry has recently launched the ‘Sanchar Saathi’ portal to prevent spam calls and cyber frauds. He said that over 40 lakh wrong SIMs and 41,000 wrong ‘Point of Sale’ agents have been blacklisted.

He said that the use of artificial intelligence has helped a lot in reducing these cases.

The minister said that people should answer unknown numbers only when an identification message has been sent from such callers.
