Telangana: ‘Forced to send son to school’: Parents tell school as kid tests Covid positive

Hyderabad: A private school in Hyderabad’s Banjara Hills was forced to shift offline classes to online classes on Thursday after a Class 9 student tested positive for Covid-19. The school reportedly failed to take necessary precautions for the parents, saying that many children were suffering from Covid-like symptoms.

“I was forced to send my son to school as soon as schools stopped focusing on children attending online classes. Within two days, my son started developing symptoms of COVID-19. Today, I am taking the Covid-19 test as one of his classmates tested positive for the virus,” a parent, whose son is studying in class 9, was quoted as saying by The Times of India.

Schools which resumed offline classes from November 1 are now forced to shift classes again to online mode. The parents said that the school management was ready to start classes in offline mode despite their request and the parents were left with no other option. As per a report in TOI, the parents said, “My son had barely gone to school for two days and now he has fever.”

The parents demanded that the management should guarantee that all the COVID-19 protocols are being strictly followed. He also said that now the school should be accountable and trace all contacts with the student who tested positive for Covid.

The parents further reportedly said that the cases of Kovid should have appeared in many schools, but the management is hiding the truth and is gradually shifting to online classes.
