Telangana: Congress women leaders burn effigy of Assam CM for making derogatory remarks against Rahul Gandhi | Hyderabad News – Times of India

HYDERABAD: Telangana Mahila Congress members including former union minister Renuka Choudhary, TPCC working president J Geeta ReddyPadmavathi Reddy, Women Congress state president Sunitha Rao among others submitted a memorandum to Telangana State Women’s Commission chairperson Sunitha Lakshma Reddy Demanding action against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for making derogatory comments against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi,
They also burnt the effigies of Himanta Biswa in front of the Women’s Commission office and later at Gandhi Bhavan and sought to warn the Assam CM that this is just the beginning of women’s ire against him and that he cannot escape their wrath.
A delegation of the Congress women leaders met the Telangana Mahila Commission chairperson and told her that Himanta Biswa’s comments against Rahul Gandhi’s paternity was a direct insult to the women and Bharat Mata, in addition to being a violation of women’s rights.
Geeta Reddy, in the memorandum, stated that Himanta’s comments attract police cases under sections 153-A, 293 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). As it is a cognizable offense, anyone can lodge a complaint.
Later, Geeta Reddy told media persons that it was a shame on part of the Assam CM to have made such comments against a leader under whom he had worked till recently. Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not condemn such heinous comments and his silence will only encourage such bad culture, she said.
