Telangana: Congress leader lodges complaint to police against party’s state president Revanth for temple comment | Hyderabad News – Times of India

HYDERABAD: The controversies surrounding Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy are just refusing to die down and the latest one being a police complaint lodged against him by his own party ex-MLA P Vishnuvardhan Reddy.
On Saturday, Jubilee Hills former MLA Vishnu lodged a complaint with the Banjara Hills police seeking necessary action against Revanth for his comments that a gang rape took place in the compound premises of Peddamma temple in Jubilee Hills.
“Please inquire into details of the said video and take necessary action against the person who made this wild allegation as it has deeply hurt and affected the thousands of devotees of Peddamma Talli. This allegation is absurd, totally baseless and false,” he stated in his complaint to ACP, Banjara Hills.
Vishnu is the chairman and founder trustee of Peddamma Talli temple, Jubilee Hills. He also attached a video clip of Revanth Reddy’s media conference recently, in which the latter has alleged that gang rape took place in the temple compound premises.
Revanth was yet to react till late night but sources said that the Congress leaders were maintaining a strategic silence as it was a sensitive issue and wanted to wait and watch before responding on the issue.
Revanth, in a recent media conference alleged that the BJP protected the AIMIM party leaders allegedly involved in gangrape. Despite the heinous crime being committed in a temple compound premises, the BJP did not make it a big issue. While the AIMIM is helping BJP everywhere in the country by contesting elections, the BJP helped MIM in this case as then there was no sign of any election.
Vishnu told TOI that he lodged the complaint not as an ex-MLA of the Congress but as the founder trustee and chairman of the Peddamma temple. “I had started receiving calls from devotees, who said they were hurt with the rape comments in temple premises. Revanth could have consulted me to know whether it really happened in temple premises. The police have investigated the case and no such thing has come out,” he said.
