The chief minister said the state government had accepted the recommendation of the Commission of Inquiry for Scheduled Tribes to include Valmiki Boya, Kiratak and other communities in the list of STs in 2016 and submitted it to the Centre.

The Telangana Assembly on Friday passed a resolution recommending the Center to include Valmiki Boya and some other communities in the list of Scheduled Tribes (STs).

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who moved the resolution, said the state government had accepted the recommendation of a Commission of Inquiry for Scheduled Tribes to include Valmiki Boya, Kiratak and other communities in the list of STs in 2016 and it was declared as ST. submitted to the list. However, no response has been received on the matter, he said.

Therefore, the House unanimously resolved to recommend the Center to include the said communities in the list of Scheduled Tribes, he said, reading out the resolution.

He also proposed that the ‘Mali’ community living in Adilabad, Komram Bheem Asifabad and Mancherial districts be included in the ST list keeping in view their socio-economic conditions.

Rao said the community has been demanding their inclusion in the ST.

Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy announced that the motion was approved.
