HYDERABAD: Upset over the humiliation being meted out to her family, a 13-year-old girl ended her life after giving birth to a baby boy at her home. Kamareddy District.
Leaving the girl at home, the girl ended her life by jumping into the well. The police took the boy to the hospital and registered a case of rape against unknown criminals.
The girl was the daughter of a village farmer Gandhari Mandals of Kamareddy District. The girl was the fourth daughter of a farmer couple, who have five daughters and one son.
According to the police, the family came to know that the girl was pregnant recently. She gave birth to a baby boy at home on Tuesday night. The girl’s parents along with others had gone to attend a religious event at night. The girl left the house early Wednesday.
Gandhari SI Shankar said, “The villagers who returned home from the religious event saw a child crying in the premises of the girl’s house.”
As no one, including the girl’s family members, claimed the boy, the villagers informed the police. “We reached the spot and along with the officials of the Child Welfare Department, the boy was taken to the hospital for treatment. The boy is in good health,” said the SI.
When the police team searched the area, the girl was found submerged in a well of a field, about half a km away from her house. The body was pulled out of the well. Based on the complaint of his family, a case was registered under relevant sections of IPC and POCSO Act.
