Ludhiana: A team of District Unit of Democratic Teachers Front met the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Gen) Rahul Chaba On Saturday, they demanded that teachers be assigned election duty near their homes or posting stations.
The delegation was led by Daljit Samrala, District Secretary of the Morcha. Front’s district press secretary Gurpreet Singh said, “We have given a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana to the ADC. We have requested the officials that in the coming time Punjab Assembly elections, teachers should be given voting duty in their native constituencies or near by areas instead of far away. We demand special attention to couple matters, demanding that they be kept together. We don’t want the women teachers on duty to face any trouble.”
Gurpreet Singh said: “The responsibility of making overall arrangements for the elections rests with the Jagraon ADC. Information received from the Jagraon ADC’s office suggests that it will form a committee for overall management of the assignment of duties, with a teacher’s representative. Will suggest.”
talking to Rahul Chabba, the delegation also demanded that the representatives of the parents’ union Rajinder GhaiAnyone who has publicly insulted District Education Officer Lakhveer Singh Samra should be arrested. The accused is absconding along with the family.
