Tata Sky’s Made in India STBs are now operational; Tata Sky Binge+ box also made here

Tata SkyIndia’s leading Direct to Home (DTH) service provider has announced that set top boxes (STBs) made in India are now on the market. it comes a few months later Tata Sky announced plans to manufacture STBs For its DTH service in India, as a push for the Make in India initiative of the Government of India. These STBs for Tata Sky are manufactured by Technicolor Connected Homes and have partnered with Chennai-based Flextronics for manufacturing. Tata Sky is competing with Airtel, DishTV and Dish TV-owned d2h in the DTH space in India. Tata Sky has a strong line-up of STBs in India, which includes Tata Sky HD Box, Tata Sky 4K, Tata Sky+ HD and Android TV powered. Tata Sky Binge+ Which also bundles access to Disney+ Hotstar, Amazon Prime and more OTT services.

Tata Sky insists that the STBs manufactured in India will meet all quality standards as before, and help improve the availability of options for new and existing Tata Sky customers. “India-made set-top boxes will help in generating employment while reducing the lead time. Harit Nagpal, MD & CEO, Tata Sky says, “The boxes have been tested and retested beyond the factory floor for quality assurance, and we hope this effort will help us better serve Indian consumers. ” Currently, the Tata Sky HD STB costs Rs 1,499 for the new connection, while the popular Tata Sky Binge+ box costs Rs 2,499.

What are the STBs of Tata Sky now? made in india In June this year Technicolor started commissioning production lines at the factory in Chennai with the development and manufacturing of Connected Homes and Flextronics. He further added, “Today’s news marks the fulfillment of the objectives outlined in August 2020, in which Tata Sky and Technicolor have committed to shift production and distribution of connected home STBs – including the Android TV-based Tata Sky Binge+ set- Top Box included – Within India.” Tata Sky expects the first batch to be released in the market now, which will be followed by a long-term partnership between Tata Sky and Technicolor Connected Homes.
