An official said: “Tata Electricity power distribution loss is in the range of 1.02-1.07%. We maintain lowest distribution loss through various technical interventions like- energy audit at feeder, transformer and consumer level, state-of-the-art low loss equipment design, network optimization, network planning, and GIS integration etc.”
The power utility firm caters to over 7 lakh consumers including a significant number of residential users in Mumbai.
Tata Power has also launched smart meters in Mumbai and has completed 40,000 installations so far. “The lowest distribution loss contributes to the low average cost of supply, which has helped Tata Power maintain competitive tariffs in Mumbai. It is also the lowest distribution loss across India,” the official said.
