Tata Motors Reaches New Milestone, Crosses 50 Lakh Passenger Vehicle Production Mark

Tata Motors on Friday announced that it has produced a total of 5 million passenger vehicles. In 2004 and 2010, the automaker reached the production milestone of one million units. It reached 30 lakh units in 2015 and 40 lakh units in 2020.

“This journey, from each million to the next, is filled with its fair share of ups and downs,” Shailesh Chandra, managing director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said in a statement.

The company noted that it was able to grow from 4 million cars to 5 million units within three years despite the COVID-19 and semiconductor shortage crisis plaguing the global automotive industry.

To celebrate the 5 millionth production milestone, Tata Motors will launch a festive campaign for customers and employees across the country. The company said it will organize month-long celebrations at its manufacturing locations and regional offices.
