A day after the killing of a Kashmiri Pandit in Pulwama, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday held protests at several places in Kashmir. Sanjay Sharma, a 40-year-old Kashmiri Pandit bank guard, was shot dead in Pulwama district while he was on his way to the local market.

The main protest was organized in Jawahar Nagar area of ​​the city where dozens of BJP workers demonstrated against the killing.

Media chief Manzoor Ahmad Bhat said, “Our Kashmiri Pandit brother was brutally murdered in Pulwama. Terrorists have tried to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere established over the last three years in a well-planned conspiracy. The protesters also burnt an effigy of Pakistan, blaming the neighboring country for the killings.

Bhat said, “BJP is protesting against Pakistan in the entire valley today. We appeal to the LG administration to ensure the safety of minorities and take steps so that such incidents do not happen again.”

Protests were also held in Kulgam on Monday, while candle marches were taken out against the deaths in Pulwama and Baramulla on Sunday night.

Mehbooba Mufti targeted BJP

Criticizing the government over the terror attack, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti said, “These incidents only benefit the BJP, be it in Haryana or Kashmir. The BJP failed to protect the lives of the minorities here. They are in the Valley.” Just use minorities to show normalcy.”

She said, “BJP uses such incidents to malign the image of Muslims in the country. I condemn this act. This is not the behavior of Kashmiri people. All these acts show the failures of the government.”
