Tarak Ratna’s last rites today Telugu actor-turned-politician Taraka Ratna passed away at the age of 39 on Saturday (February 18). He had collapsed last month and was rushed to the hospital while participating in the launch of TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh’s statewide ‘padayatra’. Even after undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bengaluru, his condition remained critical and he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday. The body of Nandamuri Taraka Ratna was brought to his residence in Rangareddy on Sunday morning and his last rites will be performed today. Reportedly, the late actor’s wife Alekhya Reddy has become unwell.
Several personalities from the South Indian film industry paid their respects to Tarak Ratna, including his cousin Jr. NTR, actor Allu Arjun and others. Several videos and pictures are also going viral on the internet in which family and friends can be seen paying tribute to the late actor. Meanwhile, Taraka Ratna was the grandson of Telugu actor and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh NT Rama Rao. He is survived by his wife and their daughter. Taraka tied the knot with Alekhya in 2012 even when her family did not approve of them. The two met on the sets of Daya where Alekh was a costume designer. They married in a temple in Hyderabad and none of the actor’s family members attended the ceremony.
Talking about his acting career, after making his debut with ‘Okato Number Kurradu’ (2003), Nandamuri worked as a lead actor in several films. His role as the antagonist in Amaravati (2009) was widely acclaimed.
