Chennai: The national medical commission Health Minister Ma Subramanian said on Monday that inspections have been completed in four of the 11 new medical colleges in the last 10 days. Tamil Nadu Undergraduate will add 1,650 seats to the seat matrix, taking the tally to 5,200. will be MBBS seats in all government medical colleges in the state if all the 11 colleges get approval from the apex medical body.
The committee completed its surprise inspections at Namakkal, Krishnagiri, Tiruppur and Dindigul and has not made any adverse comments so far. “We are waiting for him to visit the remaining seven colleges within the next few days. These are sudden seizures, so we don’t have a timeline.”

Most of these colleges will have 700-750 bedded hospitals attached to these colleges with all facilities of quality care. “But these units do not have the experience to face inspections,” he said. “In the last few weeks, we have asked existing medical colleges to advise new colleges. For example, a team of Salem Medical College Trained doctors in Namakkal medical colleges to do paperwork. They conducted mock inspections to find faults and rectify errors,” said Dr Narayanbabu.
As part of the national mission to increase the number of medical colleges across the country, the Center allowed Tamil Nadu To open 11 new medical colleges.
