Lockdown extended till 31st July in Tamil Nadu

The Tamil Nadu government has extended the ongoing COVID-induced lockdown in the state till July 31, providing several relaxations in restrictions. In an official statement, Chief Minister MK Stalin said inter-state public transport would remain restricted except to and from Puducherry.

Tamil Nadu lockdown: What’s open, what’s closed

As per the new guidelines, ITIs, industrial schools, typewriting schools can function on rotation basis with 50 per cent students.

Teachers can come to school for admission work and distribute textbooks.
Shops and activities will remain operational till 9 pm.
Hotels and tea shops can operate with 50% customers.
Restaurants are now allowed to serve dine-in to customers at 50% capacity and adhering to COVID-19 norms.
Amusement parks can reopen, however, a cap of 50% capacity will apply.
Gyms can open. IT offices can now function with 50% attendance.
Cinema halls and bars will remain closed.
Schools and colleges will remain closed.
Inter-state private bus transport and international air travel will remain prohibited except those permitted by the Centre.
Swimming pool, social and political meetings, entertainment, sports and cultural programs will not be allowed.
Weddings and funerals can take place in all districts. A maximum of 50 guests are allowed for a wedding ceremony.
– A maximum of 20 people can attend the funeral.
Bus services to Puducherry will resume.
No social/political/cultural/sporting event will be allowed till July 31.
