Tamil Nadu: Leader of Opposition K Palaniswami demands CM Stalin to come up with VAX data

Chennai: Former Tamil Nadu CM K Palaniswami on Saturday urged the MK Stalin-led DMK government to publish a white paper on COVID-19 vaccines and their use.

In a statement issued here, Palaniswami, who is also the joint coordinator of the AIADMK, sought a white paper from the Tamil Nadu government, detailing (a) the number of vaccine doses supplied by the central government to the state in the last two months, ( b) how many people were given the shot, (c) how many people are to be given a second shot, (d) how the vaccines received from the central government are distributed among the districts and (e) at the vaccination centers that are all up for jobs was given priority.

Palaniswami blamed the DMK government for the lack of planning on people’s vaccination, its distribution and other aspects. He also asked Stalin and other opposition leaders to be intimidated about the Kovid-19 vaccine while not in power.

Palaniswami said the DMK government was making false promises to the people like sourcing of vaccines directly through global tenders; The vaccine is manufactured and sourced from market at HLL Biotech’s facility near here.

Tamil Nadu recorded 2.205 Covid cases in which 43 people succumbed to the deadly virus on Saturday. With these numbers, the active caseload stands at 28,590, while the death toll stands at 33,695.
