Taliban welcomes US move to allow humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

The Taliban on Sunday welcomed the US’s recent move to allow the flow of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) welcomes the recent decision to allow US government agencies to facilitate the flow of food and medicine to the IEA along with international and non-governmental organizations and banks. has done.” Ministry spokesman Abdul Kahar Balkhi said in a statement, Xinhua news agency reported.

The war-torn nation is in utter turmoil and chaos following the Taliban takeover and is in dire need of humanitarian aid.

On Friday, the United States issued general licenses, allowing the US government, NGOs and some international organizations to engage in transactions that are necessary to provide humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

Earlier this month, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that the prospect of an outright economic collapse in Afghanistan was “serious”, highlighting the urgent need for funding aid to Afghans.

He also appealed to countries that have promised $1.2 billion in relief for Afghanistan, to act quickly. Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaki of the caretaker government of the Taliban said on Thursday that Afghanistan wants to build friendly relations with the international community, including neighboring and regional countries, Xinhua news agency reported.
