PDP president Mehbooba Mufti said on Wednesday that the Taliban, which has taken over the reins of Afghanistan, must abide by the true Sharia, which guarantees rights for all, including women.

“The Taliban has emerged as a reality. For the first time in power, its image was that of an opponent of human rights. If it wants to rule Afghanistan, it must follow the true Sharia law set forth in the Quran. Women, children and guarantees the rights of the elderly,” he told reporters after a ceremony.
The former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister said that if the Taliban follows the example of the regime established by Prophet Muhammad in Medina, it will set an example for the world.
He said the Taliban should avoid harsh interpretations of Islam and Sharia if they want to do business with the international community.
“If this does not happen, it will create difficulties for the people of Afghanistan,” Mehbooba said.
