Taking A Look At Team India’s Biggest Challenges In 2024

With 2023 bringing out a lot of positives for the Indian cricket team, the Men in Blue will be looking forward to progressing into the next year as bigger and more complex challenges await them.

Barring the disappointing ODI World Cup 2023 final loss to Australia, Team India fared pretty well in all three formats and managed to finish at the top of all three leaderboards in terms of rankings.

Individual performances have also been plenty for Team India, featuring the likes of Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja among others.

However, a busy 2024 calendar could be the next big step for the team as their ICC trophy drought continues to haunt the fans.

Here are some of the challenging tasks Team India has ahead of them going into the new year –

INDIA vs Afghanistan T20 series (January 11-17)

With T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav out of the 3-match T20 series against Afghanistan and Hardik Pandya also facing a race against time, the home series could see Rohit Sharma make his return to the format after more than a year. With the T20 World Cup 2024 in mind, matches like these could prove to be influential in terms of experiments and deciding a solid eleven going into the quadrennial event.

INDIA vs England Test series (Jan 25-March 25)

With Team India facing the Baseball challenge after the T20 series, the 5-match series will be crucial for India’s World Test Championship (WTC). India are currently losing 1-0 to South Africa in the 2-match test series.

T20 World Cup 2024 (June Onwards)

The Men in Blue will then go on to another major tournament with fans hoping to see a 2nd T20 World Cup for the team. However, with the T20 lineup far from decided, India would have to lift their socks up and have a winning mindset for the tourney.

After the World Cup, Team India will be taking on Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and New Zealand in different bilateral series.

The year-ender will be a special one for India with the Border Gavaskar Trophy up for grabs. India retained the trophy last time and will be looking to do so yet again when they take on the Aussies in the 5-match Test series.
