Earlier in the day, a military helicopter showered rose petals on Red Road, the official venue of the event here, to greet other dignitaries, including Bose and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

The Governor unfurled the tricolor on the occasion in the presence of Banerjee and her cabinet colleagues, senior state officials and the three wings of the Indian Armed Forces.
