Actor Tahir Raj Bhasin has gone into a limbo with his recent projects. Growing himself as an actor, he has taken an experimental journey through genres, mediums and characters. In his two recently released web shows ‘Ranjeesh Hi Sahi’ and ‘Yeh Kaali Kali Aankhen’ and upcoming film ‘Loop Lapeta’, Tahir examines the weaker side of men through his characters as he is in their psyche. Let’s get down to what some male actors might refrain from doing in the early stages of their career. In an exclusive conversation with India TV, the actor talks about projecting the weaknesses of men on screen and bringing out the feminine point of view.

Over the years mainstream cinema has seen women as objects of desire, however, this is not the case with Tahir’s web series. Yeh Kali Kali Aankhen tells the story of a young man who is torn between a woman who is in love with him (Shweta Tripathi) and the one who seeks him (Aanchal Singh). Nayak is an award that can only be won by the daughter of the central characters, played by the versatile Saurabh Shukla. At the same time, ‘Ranjeesh Hi Sahi’ is based on the backdrop of the golden era of 70s Bollywood. It revolves around the life of struggling film director Shankar, played by Tahir, Diva Aamna played by Amala Paul and Shankar’s wife Anju, played by Amrita.

Talking about such vicissitudes, Tahir credits OTT for opening the place. He said, “That’s one of the fascinating things about the OTT medium. Of course, love triangles have been traced in Indian films from the beginning of time, but when you do it on OTT, it makes you think things differently. Gives different viewing timeline. Viewpoint. We know what Shankar feels but here we also know how Shankar’s wife and his love interest feels in ‘Ranjesh Hi Sahi’. You get to know things from the woman’s point of view It makes it more interesting because you are engaging the audience with different dynamics in the story.”

In the case of “Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen”, the challenge is that the series is the story of a common man, who seeks a simple life with the girl he loves. He settles in a city, does his job. But when a politician’s daughter decides that this is a man she wants to marry, it creates a whirlwind of entanglements in her life, and thus allows an ordinary person to live her life in extraordinary circumstances. You have to change in order to be retrieved. The big theme of the show, of course, is that when a power structure takes over your life or puts you under surveillance, you adapt as a layman,” They said.

Considering the roles that Tahir has chosen in recent times, he does not hesitate to showcase the sensibilities of men on screen. The actor shared, these are some conscious decisions that he took.

“It’s really a conscious change. The earliest characters I’ve played in the early part of my career, whether it was Walt in Mardaani, Shiva in Force 2, or even Derek in Chhichhore, were very alpha male characters Those who were portrayed as older than life studs, for lack of a better word, but I really think acting should have limits that to be a man, it doesn’t mean you have to To be shown as someone larger than life. It’s totally acceptable to be genuine, sensitive, emotional and flawed at times. And that’s what’s exciting about all these upcoming projects,” he told us.

The actor will continue to follow the streak with ‘Loop Lapeta’. The thrilling journey of Savi and Satya has been shown in the film. Tahir is Taapsee’s carefree love interest, who loses a dacoit’s cash in a bid to gamble. Now Savi has to save her ‘useless lover’. Based on the German experimental thriller “Run Lola Run”, the film is directed by debutant director Akash Bhatia and will premiere on Netflix on February 4.
