Taapsee Pannu revealed in a recent interview why she didn’t opt for a big fashion designer for her wedding outfits.

Taapsee Pannu tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend and badminton player Mathias Boe in Udaipur, in March. During a new interview with HT City, she revealed the details of her intimate wedding. Unlike many recent celebrity brides, Taapsee chose a traditional salwar kameez and juttis over a lehenga for her wedding day. She explained that her attire was designed by a friend, which made it more special and personal.

Taapsee explained, “I’ve grown up seeing Sikh, Gurudwara weddings, so for me, the vintage idea, the classic idea of getting married was always in a proper red salwar kameez paired with a dupatta with kinari on the border. That’s the only way I know a bride looks like a bride, and it didn’t feel real wedding vibe to me to imagine myself dressing up in pastel hued lehengas.”

She further added, “Also because when you have some big name on board, then the chances of the news getting leaked out are very high, and I wanted to keep it very private. So, my college friend, Mani Bhatia designed all my outfits, and that’s how I wanted. I didn’t have any lehenga in my entire wedding because I wanted to dance a lot on all functions.”

Discussing her outfits for the other wedding events, Taapsee shared that she wore a vintage Punjabi-style lungi with a kurta for the haldi ceremony, reminiscent of the style seen in ‘DDLJ (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge)’. For the sangeet, she chose bellbottom pants with a blinged-out top and jacket, accessorizing with only diamond solitaires. On her wedding day, she adorned herself with a traditional Punjabi saggi phull hair accessory and a light set of necklace and earrings that had been a gift from her grandmother to her mother on her wedding day.

Meanwhile, newlywed Taapsee Pannu recently proved that she is her husband Mathia Boe’s biggest cheerleader. The badminton coach was recently recognised for his contribution by a sports equipment company. Taapsee has now shared the post on her Instagram handle and praised him.

The actress wrote, ‘Such a star YOU are. Spreading light around, #proud.’ The post read, “Shining a spotlight on every player’s special ability creates a greater illumination of the beauty of this sport. That’s the best part of being a coach.”

News18 Showsha was first to report about Taapsee’s secret wedding with Mathias. The wedding took place in Udaipur and was an extremely intimate affair, a source had informed us.

Taapsee Pannu and Danish badminton coach Mathias Boe met at the inaugural Indian Badminton League in 2013. Love blossomed between the two, and soon the families met. While Taapsee largely managed to keep details about her love life under wraps, she once stated in an interview that they began chatting on X (formerly Twitter) and then proceeded to meet one another.
