Former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard comes up with an interesting celebration during Surrey’s match against Gloucestershire at the Kennington Oval in London on Tuesday, May 31. The veteran scored only 14 runs off 15 balls with the help of a four before Netherlands pacer Paul van Meeckeren dismissed him.

During Gloucestershire’s run-chase, Pollard took the wicket of opposition captain Jack Taylor. After trying to go for an air stroke below the ground, the batsman threw his bat on the ground as he was unable to time the ball properly.

After a simple catch by Jason Roy, Pollard had a unique celebration. Surrey teammates went to the Trinidadian and congratulated him.

As far as the match was concerned, Surrey bowled out their opposition for 92 runs in 15 overs to beat Gloucestershire by 37 runs. After being asked to chase down 130 in a rain-hit match, Gloucestershire came under pressure to find any kind of pace with the bat. Ryan Higgins top-scored with 37 runs before Sam Curran was responsible for the wicket.

Recently, Pollard had a weak campaign for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Ahead of a match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Pollard did not find a place in the MI lineup. Later, captain Rohit Sharma said that it was Pollard’s decision to step down after not performing so well.

“He (Pollard) came to us and he was ready for it,” Rohit said before the match started.
